We got our first snow of the season a couple of days ago, which is early around here. Ugh. I prefer artistic representations of snow over the real thing.

Daily Diversion #371: Winter Festival
Naturally, with this being (Central) Ohio and all, it was 60 degrees during a winter festival in February. We still had fun, though. And it was nice not being bundled up.
[Intermezzo] No Concentration, or Why I’m as Happy as Clara Bow with a Beach Ball
The winter-encrusted inhabitants of this drafty house are agog at the most gladsome of all tidings: spring is here! It is here! It is here! Glorious. Insistent. Blustery. She’s a grand dame, is Spring. I should be writing. I could be cleaning. I would, I would…but it is 77 degrees outside! The day that a season elbows her way back into our lives is a cause for celebration, not concentration.
This is where I put words about how the contented chirping of birds, barking of dogs, and mewing of small children have all joined to create the newest soundtrack sensation. Ice cream trucks, green shoots of plants I am constitutionally unable to recognize but overjoyed to see, and motorcycle engines belong here, too. Tank tops, sandals, and Margaritas for the win!
The front porch boards are warm beneath my feet.
Daily Diversion #187: All the Cool Kids

Daily Diversion #111: Oh, look, it’s back!
Welcome back, snow! Gee, it’s hard to believe it has been 8 or 9 months since…oh, wait. What? What do you mean spring opened her arms in a warm embrace 5 days ago? Why are you back so soon? Didn’t you get the memo? Have you looked at a calendar? In this part of the world you should be on vacation until at least December, maybe even January. Please take heed of this plea, and skedaddle.
Over the River and Through the Wood…
We spent Christmas Day at my grandparents’ house with my extended family. Up and back in one day, a smooth drive, no worries. We had no idea that, whilst we were opening gifts and eating entirely too much decadent food, a blizzard was traveling this way. It is here now, and I wish that I could say it is as pretty as a picture. It isn’t, so I am leaving you with these lovely paintings instead. Please look at them to your heart’s content; I will be off in the corner munching on left-over cookies and writing my blogging game plan for 2013. See you tomorrow!
