…to myself.

The Ballad of Joe Strummer by Chris Salewicz
“Authority is supposedly grounded in wisdom, but I could see from a very early age that authority was only a system of control and it didn’t have any inherent wisdom. I quickly realised that you either became a power or you were crushed.”-Joe Strummer
NICE! 🙂

I know! I’m excited.
Leave it to me to run into HP Books to buy two gifts (for someone else) and walk out with an equal amount of books for myself. 🙂

Wonderful gift for yourself, maedez. I went into our local thrift store and came out with three books, all biographies, for $7. I could have bought more.

It is! I cannot wait to read it.
Thrift store books are always great finds (and deals!), aren’t they? You showed remarkable restraint! May I ask who the biographies are about? I love a good biography, so I am curious. 🙂

Yes, maedez. I bought Pat Conroy’s “The Death of Santini”. “Refuge” by Terry Tempest Williams (more about family and her relationship with her mother than biography) and “Halfbreed, the True Story of George Bent” by Halaas and Masich. Bent is an historical figure, born from a white father and Cheyenne mother. He lived in both worlds and knew some of the great Indian warriors as well as Kit Carson, etc.

Those sound like great books, particularly the one about George Bent!
