Autumn Weather, Where Are You?

Why doesn’t the landscape look like this yet? It is October, after all. Where are the jewel toned leaves carried on hearty, smoke-scented breezes?

I’m ready for hot cider and Thomas Hardy, fingerless gloves and Sylvia Plath. Please cooperate, Mother Nature, before winter scoots in and steals away autumn’s cloaked light and quiet beauty.

  1. What a beautiful painting, maedez. He caught the balance of color below with the color above. I must say the color is here in Colorado – every morning, every day it becomes more gold and orange. We are just waiting for the aspens to display on the mountains slopes.

    • We are starting to get some colour here, but it is way too hot. In the ’80s. I am waiting for it to cool down a bit, and then all will be good with the weather.

  2. Not to rub it in, but we’re having a lovely fall here – crisp, fresh and sunny. Everything autumn should be.

I love this: “…before winter scoots in and steals away autumn’s cloaked light and quiet beauty.”

    • It has been in the ’80s here! I love autumn, especially October. I really want an autumn like you described. I had my first mug of hot apple cider tonight, though, the weather notwithstanding.

Thank you! I hope that I get to enjoy a bit of that quiet beauty!
