I’m finally getting my new writing studio put together. As most of you know, our recent (okay, it was two+ months ago) move was ridiculous and awful. Unpacking things in my studio was pretty much at the bottom of the list. Better late than never, though. Here’s a partial view of the area above my desk.
“The object isn’t to make art, it’s to be in that wonderful state which makes art inevitable.”–Robert Henri
“Invention, it must be humbly admitted, does not consist in creating out of void but out of chaos.”–Mary Wollstonecraft (Godwin)Shelley
“Creativity is that marvelous capacity to grasp mutually distinct realities and draw a spark from their juxtaposition.”–Max Ernst
“An artist without ideas is a mendicant; barren, he goes begging among the hours.”–Irving Stone, The Agony and the Ecstasy
“To me, the greatest pleasure of writing is not what it’s about, but the inner music that words make.”-Truman Capote
