Because of this story I was afraid of premature burial as a teenager.

Amazing illustration. Did you read Bill Bryson’s book “At Home”?.,The section about the burial practices in churchyards in London was quite horrific. They became so overcrowded that the smell was overpowering and families could not even go to their loved one’s burial because of the putrefaction. A lovely thought leading up to Halloween.
