I find it interesting that Julia Margaret Cameron took the photo – surely one of the first female photographers. I think a few Victorian era women took it up and were pretty accomplished at it.

So true! Her career as a photographer lasted about a decade, yet the impact of her work still reverberates. I also love the fact that she was the Aunt of Virginia Woolf’s mom.
