I’ve no idea how it happened, but I own two copies of The Lives of the Muses by Francine Prose. As much as I love books, I obviously don’t need more than one copy of anything. I’ve decided to gift one lucky reader with the extra one.

That is so generous of you, maedez. Of course, I would be the perfect recipient as books are one of my muses. Thanking you in advance…

Thanks, Judy! There’s no reason for me to keep that second copy, so I thought I’d give it away to one of my fab readers.
May the muse be with you come drawing time. š

Speaking of muses, CBC radio had an interesting documentary on Lewis Carroll the other day, and his connection with the family of the real-life Alice. They suggested that Carroll had to refuse flirtatious advances from Alice’s older teenage sister. Have you heard/read about this?

You are entered, Ruth!
Well, that is interesting indeed. I’ve never heard that theory put forth before, and I am not sure I buy it, either. I’d definitely need to see what they are basing this on. Even were it true, it doesn’t absolve him of his obsessive attentions to many, many young girls.
