Austrian artist Gustav Klimt died on 6 February 1918. He was fifty-five.

I once saw a whole exhibition of Klimt at the Neue Galerie. Seeing the canvases in person is an exceptional experience. I barely got in–the line went down 5th Avenue and around the corner.
