Because it is Monday and we could all use some levity.

  1. Maedez, I have an original copy of the book by Seton, “Wild Animals I Have Known”. I think there may be a story in there about Silverspot. Certainly the illustrations are beautiful. I do not have pets anymore but would love a kitty. In the meantime, I coo over the wild birds that flock around here and had a dream today that I had a pet bunny named Carlton.

    • A pet bunny named Carlton? That is priceless. Why that name, I wonder? My first thought was of actor Carlton Carpenter (with whom I share a birthday), because apparently I am an 85-year-old. My second thought was of Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, because I am also a product of my generation!

What an awesome thing to have an original copy of that book!

      • I don’t know where Carlton came from. I have names picked out for my potential pets. I will let you know some more when I remember them. I am not 85 yet but my husband said I am a strange duck. Re the book – we have a non-profit thrift shop nearby in AZ and since most of the donors are old, there have been some real treasures in there. I found a book by Rockwell Kent – a short diary of a trip he made by boat with his woodcuts illustrating it.

      • Well, I think that Carlton is the perfect name for a bunny. I, too, have some names picked out for future pets. How funny! I am definitely an odd duck, too. That is such a compliment, really.
I am entirely jealous of that thrift shop, and your Rockwell Kent book sounds heavenly. I am amazed that anyone else knows who Rockwell Kent was, but am not surprised that if anyone else does it is you.

  2. Maedez, you are so nice to say that. I don’t think you are odd at all – not in my book anyway. I just tend to accumulate things that are of no interest to most people. If I see some books that I think would be suitable for you I will pick them up and send. A gift. To a gem of a person whom I think of as an emerald for some reason.

    • I meant it! It is okay, Judy. I am odd, and that is fine by me. I would not be normal if I could.

It is very sweet of you to think of me at all. 🙂 I will do the same for you, as it is always nice when one has other people in mind when looking through old books. It becomes like a treasure hunt, and the more you are looking for the better.
