I am not a plant or flower or tree person. I cannot keep green things alive. I’ve no idea what kind of tree this is-I only know that it overlooks my second-story studio and that it is refreshingly lovely.

New studio view.
It’s a beaut, isn’t it?

Take two: first-floor view from the front porch.
The studio will be ready next week. I can hardly wait.
“To the great tree-loving fraternity we belong. We love trees with universal and unfeigned love, and all things that do grow under them or around them-the whole leaf and root tribe.”-Henry Ward Beecher
It is a beautiful tree – I am thinking Chinese elm but not sure. In any case, you will see it in all seasons and your view has improved, I think.

Thanks for the info. I will have to check out the Chinese elm. I am excited to experience the new view during all seasons. I agree-the new view is much better, or at least more relaxing!

We called them Mimosa trees where I grew up in the Eastern US. They were everywhere. I think the tree originated in Persia. It is a relatively small tree. I loved them as a child. 🙂

I am from Ohio, and was not familiar with them. Of course, I am not a tree or flower or plant person. That is my excuse. It is a lovely tree, though.

The tree is gorgeous. It is just outside my studio window and directly in front of the left side of the front porch. This neighborhood is new to us, and I have already found it surprisingly picturesque.

I second NakedLola, that’s a mimosa.
The flowers feel like little feather puffs if you get up close. We have lots in bloom here in South Carolina too.

Mimosa for the win! My friend Rebecca visited yesterday and said that they remind her of Horton Hears a Who.

It is one of the many things that made me fall in love with this house. I cannot wait to be fully in the studio, though. Probably in a week or so.
