Love how the head, which is the most interesting part of a person, as well as the hands, are in more detail, in vivid color and the rest is somewhat flat and muted like a cartoon. Had to analyze why I liked it so much.
I’m another one who had to google both these men and I’m glad I did. I quite like Boris Kustodiev’s work for no other reason than it makes me feel good – it’s not dark and brooding.
Also, I am so happy you introduced me to Zamyatin. I’m really keen to read him now.
I Love it

Me, too. He looks very commanding!

Don’t know who these people are without Google, but really like the painting.

I love this painting, too. So unusual, and forceful.

I am so glad you did, and that you love this painting. I think it is fabulous and uplifting.
My pleasure. I am beginning to think that half of the reason for this blog is to introduce people to dead writers. 🙂
