    • Thanks! Yeah, it took awhile before I started posting pics of myself on here. Mostly because I do not want to make it all about me, but since anything goes in my daily diversions I post my image from time to time. My hair is normally even more punk, but I am due for a trim. I’ve been too busy to get to the salon, though. Less than an hour after I took this, I had my husband buzz the sides and back so now I am rockin’ the two-tone look.

      • You also photograph really nicely. I photograph terribly, and hate that film festivals are all about having pictures of the director for media. It sucks.

But you photograph well! Oh buzzed side and shorter? That is awesome, and two toned? I’d like to see how that came out.

Love that look. Pink goes back and forth from that look!

Oh I know, you have been busy!!!! It’s in your posts… well it’s the weekend. So hopefully some good rest during?

      • Haha, thanks. I photograph really nicely except when I don’t, if that makes sense. I either look great or yikes. But we are probably all too hard on ourselves, anyway.

It is two-toned because I am overdue for my colour, so my natural shade (red) is showing where he buzzed it. I like it, though.

I keep going shorter and shorter. I get bored really easily, and this is probably my 12th style and 6th colour in 20 or so months.

      • Yes, we are probably too hard on ourselves. I love that you color your hair so much. Keeps things fresh huh? I get bored pretty easily too, I understand.

I tend to want to shake my actual life up to deal with it.

      • Hahaha. Maedez, that is so cool. So what kind of actor are you? Do you prefer stage or film? Or do you like both.

I saw the Great Gatsby. *No comment.* And I normally love Baz.

      • I was on off-Broadway (debuted at the John Houseman Theatre, where Driving Miss Daisy was performed) as a 16 year old and then went on to train in Shakespeare. All stage experience but, oddly, I always thought my skill-set favoured the camera.

I plan on seeing Gatsby, even though I know it is going to be a crazy, over-blown eye-gasm not worthy of my time.

      • Wow. That is amazing, really?! So this is a passion of yours. Shakespeare? Wow. There is a new film coming out, I saw the trailer for that is a Shakespeare piece. I’ll research it and let you know the name.

Yeah I know how you can simple know – what your strength is. That’s me and writing, I am kind of a long form screenwriter, people always want to see more of the situations. It’s because my sensibility comes from long form thinking.

So is there like a backstage out there? Or how do people find out about the projects? And what do you think you’d like to do?

      • I first read Shakespeare when I was in elementary school. I was a bit of an odd child. Of course, most of it went right over my head but it started a life-long passion…Definitely let me know what Shakespeare piece it is, if you happen to come across it again.

You definitely know, or at least figure out through trial and error, what your strengths are. For fiction, my strength is in the short story form. No novels for me.

There is just a community of people out here. They all seem to know each other. I am just starting to ponder it again. I have a lot on my plate this year, so we will see…

      • I looked it up…it’s Joss Whedon’s Much Ado about Nothing. Look it up. I can’t post the link, you know WP. But it looks interesting. It’s in Black in White, I liked that.

You liked Shakespeare when you were a kid? Wow. Awww. OMG, your parents must have loved that.

Yes, we do figure our strengths. What kinds of things do you enjoy writing about most?

:)) Well, keep me abreast of what you’re doing and feel free to bounce anything off me for feedback concerning monologues or anything. I’m trying to get the actor’s perspective more. Have a great night Maedez!

      • Hey, thanks for letting me know. That sounds like an interesting combination. Especially the black and white part!

I did. I read his collected works at my grandparents’ house, where I spent so much time that I eventually read my way through almost all of their books. 🙂

My ‘specialties’ as a writer are silent cinema/old movies, dead writers, pre-1960’s literature, the 1920s. As far as fiction is concerned, I write short stories (my preferred format) and am about to write my first play in many, many years. So, I consider myself primarily an essayist, reviewer, and short story writer.

        Thanks, I appreciate it!

    • Thanks, Vickie! I appreciate your kind words. When I was writing this post, I almost dedicated the photograph, “To Vickie, who until recently sweetly thought me a natural blonde.” If I hadn’t admitted it a couple of months ago, the cat would certainly be out of the bag here. 🙂

  1. Oh definitely!!! Yes, the way they filmed it looks to be part of the allure – for sure. That is wonderful, my little nieces love to read. Such a delightful interest in a kid, even more so when they develop the habit naturally (instead of you as the adult forcing the issue haha).

Silent Cinema/ Old movies…that’s wonderful. Makes sense from the imagery on your blog. 🙂

Best of luck on your play!!! (And short stories make some of the best films…)

    • It is great that your nieces love to read. It will give them a leg-up on life.

Yeah, it all comes together when you know what my great loves are (dead writers, silent cinema, punk rock, and the 1920s).

Thanks! I agree about short stories making great films. This story is very cinematic, in a way, but will also make a great 2-person play.

      • I agree about my nieces 1000%. They love to read so much they even like to read to you and are reading way above their age group’s levels. But they’re also serious studies of life too so you really have to be on your A game mentally around em.’

No, ‘Because I said so,’ luxury, ever. Haha.

Yes it does all come together. 🙂

Did you know that The Secretary was a short story once upon a time? 🙂 Pretty cool. And yes, I think it would make a great 2-person play…
