As you can tell from an earlier comment, I agree! I normally love to hear poets read their work, especially dead ones. It adds an element that is missing when I read it in my head or even aloud. However, I find her voice to be totally at odds with her words. It’s funny, because she was a highly sought after reader. Her poetry reading tours were wildly successful, which makes me think that there was an alchemy at play between her and a live audience that is missing from these canned snippets.
Aw, how sweet! The mailman for the gallery I blog for gives away a rose a day to one person on his route. I got one about 9 months ago and it made my day.
I will have to listen later, it keeps getting stuck!

Her voice is so out of line with her spunky, rebellious nature. Whenever I hear her, I feel a weird disconnection.

Whenever I have heard her voice, I have thought it a disservice to her poetry.

I love that they give away the money and the fruit at the end to a poor old woman. I used to buy flowers to give strangers. Love this!
