Some of these portraits are pretty dark, some humorous. Poe’s is excellent. Missing is Van Gogh, a very powerful portrait. I think Sylvia Plath started out as an art major.

Man of these authors could have become famous artists. Some are just funny like Flannery O’Connor’s self portrait.

I love everything about Charles Bukowski’s portrait, including the bottle on the table, the light fixture and the (dogs? cats?) at his feet.
