My Internet connection decided to play hooky this afternoon. It went away, leaving an onslaught of cold rain in its place. I ignored them both, sliding into a hot bath fragrant with salt, book in hand. It wasn’t a waste, but a swirling respite. A challenge. A challenge to be calm, if only for a few moments.

Bath time
We are so tied to our computers it is hard to pull away and rest. My spa bath goes unused. My books are piling up. And my computer has been acting weird lately!

I read constantly and like a good, therapeutic bath now and again. I am just a bit stressed now and have a lot of work to do, so the timing wasn’t great. But it was worth the initial aggravation.

I understand. Heading to a bookstore tomorrow out in the wilds of Benson, Az. An 80 plus woman has run it for years and it has been written up in Fodors. The Singing Winds bookstore. God help me.

Oh, that sounds exquisite! How was the bookstore trip? Did you find any gems?

This bookstore was incredible – all the shelves handmade mesquite by her late first husband. Nooks and crannies, everything extremely good quality and well-chosen. Focus on the West, but also books from Japan, Korea, etc. I bought Robert Haas’ “What Light Can Do” and “Genius Loci” by Alison Hawthorne Deming, a regional poet. My husband bought a book on the copper mines of Bisbee. I am going to look at bookshelves tomorrow. The bookstore was part of an old ranch, 600 acres in the wilds of Benson, Az. There was a dog named Chester Einstein who was so wicked friendly and had a big, wagging tail that whapped you while you shopped.

It sounds breathtaking! You are lucky to have such a wonderful bookstore nearby. Any bookstore that has a store pet is automatically cool in my eyes! Especially one with that name. Enjoy your books. Did you buy shelves today?

The cable and high speed internet go out every once in awhile for no real reason. Always for a few hours…Usually when I have 15 things to do, work-wise.
That bath was extra nice. I bought some bath salts and body scrub at TJ MAXX on Sunday. Totally on impulse. I’m glad I did.

Oh that would drive me nuts, but I probably need for it to go out once in a while! Jack and Caroline bought me bath salts for Christmas. They really are nice to have around.

I rarely buy bath salts, even though I like taking hot baths. I usually buy a tin at the RenFest and am always bummed when I run out. I definitely have to buy more soon, though, because this bag has enough for about 2 or 3 baths. I must start planning ahead. 🙂

I never bathe with books, since my daughter always hops in the bath with me.

I don’t have kids, so the worst thing I have to worry about is the cat jumping in the tub. She’s come close, so I keep my fingers crossed and hope for the best.
