James Joyce managed to occupy a lot of my time my senior year of college. We read Ulysses along with the prerequisite reading of Homer’s Odyssey and Portrait of the Artist as a young man — and that was just a small part of the reading for the class. Stream of consciousness writing is very difficult to read, but now at least I can say I read it.

I love Joyce. I’ve read all of his works. Stream of consciousness is definitely not for everyone, but I really enjoy it when it is done well. π
