…”The Poodle had no vices that I can think of, unless you could count her incurable appetite for the tender tips of the young asparagus in the garden and for the black raspberries when they ripened on the bushes in the orchard”… My World – And Welcome To It, by James Thurber, another favorite!

I love him! My mom lives right around the corner from the Thurber House.

That is a fantastic greeting card. If that pooch lived in my house I would do anything it asked.

OH MY GOD YOU WORD WITCH! No one knows who Thurber is, let alone plans a shopping trip of his goods?!
I feel a little teary.

Now it was my turn to lol. I take that name as a huge compliment. 🙂 Thurber’s reputation as the greatest American humorist of the 20th century is very much intact, so plenty of people still know him or at least his work. A new big screen version of The Secret Life of Walter Mitty is set for release this Christmas and the two writers in residence spots at the Thurber House in Columbus are highly coveted. I’m extra lucky because I share a hometown with him and my mom lives around the corner from the Thurber House. He’s still a thing, for people who don’t suck. Like you. I had fun with this Shopping for the Bookworm, too.

Yes, ‘word witch’ is meant as a huge compliment.
Apparently I am surrounded by people who suck. Sad.
Once when I was in the jungle I stole a Thurber book. Good times. Now I can shop proper.
