I love studying photographs and paintings of people reading. Given how many times I come across these things online, I am definitely not alone. Check out the images of famous authors reading famous books, over on Flavorwire. My favourites? Patti Smith and Anton Chekhov, with Faulkner coming in a pretty close third.
They’re all so good … hard to choose a favorite, but I’m leaning on Ezra Pound. It looks like Joan Didion is sitting in the same chair?! I wonder if it is at a famous bookstore, like Strands in NY.

It’s funny. I really like the Pound image, too, but I find him pretty distasteful as a person so I couldn’t bring myself to choose him. Also, you have eagle eyes. What a nice catch. I didn’t notice that at all until you pointed it out!

Great find. I thought all the photos were interesting, but I especially liked the J.D. Salinger photo.

I like the Italo Calvino photo best. I honestly don’t even know who he is but that photo has a lot of personality.

I like how we are all drawn to different photographs/writers. That always fascinates me! (Italo Calvino was an Italian writer of short stories and novels.)

Amazing, they look normal 🙂

They do, don’t they? I guess that almost anyone can look normal whilst engaged in normal activities. 🙂 Except for Dali.

Actually, Stephen King appeared to be too normal that it almost creeded me out 🙂

Well, he always looks creepy to me no matter what he is doing. 🙂

Patti Smith looks like she’s REALLY into Wallace Stevens! Which, of course, is completely understandable.

Ha, that is exactly what I thought. I think that photograph is totally frame-worthy, too!
