The road to nowhere…..
[ We’ve walked this quiet path before. Started, only to stop and turn around precisely where the road drops off at the top of this photograph: discouraged by time or weather or the onset of a sudden, strange ennui. This time, encouraged by a chorus of chirping birds, and enveloped in a moving and pervasive sense of calm, we persevered.]
….always ends somewhere.

It reminds me of the line, though I can’t recall who said it, and it’s not quite the same thing: “Tragedies end with a death, and comedies with a marriage.”

That sounds familiar, although I also have no idea where the quote is from. Thanks for the refresher, it is apt enough.

It’s just the mechanism of the thought which reminded me, rather than the spirit of it. This happens to me a lot.

Yes, I know. I followed the mental leap with ease. Things constantly remind me of other things, if only by the most tenuous of threads.

Thank you! This road is actually in a local cemetery in my neighbourhood. It is the second largest in the US, and is also an arboretum and park with many ponds and walking and biking paths. This particular road is off by itself; it is very quiet and peaceful.

It is so lovely; I’m a bit obsessed with the place. This road is in a little world of its own. As you start off, there are visible graves on a bluff to your upper left. They slowly dissolve into an increasingly thick line of trees. The right is entirely shrouded, from beginning to end, in a thicket of greenery inhabited by chirping birds. It is outstanding.

That’s neat. I have places I’m obsessed with too. They just call me to go to them! 🙂

Exactly! I also do some excellent brainstorming when I am there, which is a great bonus! 🙂
