- Ralph Waldo Emerson died on 4/27/1882.
“A chief event of life is the day in which we have encountered a mind that startled us.”
- Hart Crane died on 4/27/1932. “One must be drenched in words, literally soaked in them, to have the right ones form themselves into the proper pattern at the right moment.”

I just love Hart Crane. His poetry is so tragic and gorgeous. I believe he fell off the back of a ship?

I agree. Too bad he is so underrated today. He actually committed suicide by jumping off of a ship into the Gulf of Mexico. He was only 32.

To Hart Crane quote, I say: yes and I’m still soaking and I don’t think I’ll ever be saturated…A demanding poet, but worth the effort.
