I agree, Judy! He always sounds relaxed, unforced, like he is enjoying the reading experience and taking full advantage of the connection with his audience. He also sounds American. I really tire of American writers who up their diction in an effort to ,oh, who-knows-what? Sound more refined or English or academic or whatever. It grates.

I love his tone of voice – no ponderous, nasal pronouncements like he is reading the best poem in the world that he has happened to write.
