About

A Small Press Life describes both my creative philosophy and artistic path. I have chosen, as a writer of both non-fiction and prose, to create and publish solely in the Small Press world. This is a natural and very deliberate choice on my part, born of passionate principle,personality and proclivity. I support independent publications, mine and those of others. In so doing, I am following humbly and gratefully in the footsteps of many outstanding writers and poets.
As with Robert McAlmon or Ernest Walsh, I am not content to simply chase my unfettered muse: I like to include others in the ride. Living A Small Press Life is about taking matters into your own hands. It is embracing the necessity to jump in and get dirty, on behalf of yourself and others.-Mae.

  4. I love this. I really really love this. Getting dirty on behalf of yourself and others… I think that’s just great. Oh, and the name of your site, “One Track Muse” makes me smile. I am getting close to needing new books to read and when that happens, I will be back to find some delightful reads, I’m sure.

  11. Thank you for deciding to follow my blog. I hope you enjoy the posts. But I actually hope something else happens. I hope they support your life choices. I hope they encourage you to continue your pursuit of what you have outlined on this page. When we take matters into our own hands then we retain the power. We control the direction. We get to live with the terms of our liking.

    Sorry to rant, but the older I get the more I am convinced most of us are doing it wrong. We seriously need to reflect on how we live our life and what choices we make in the process. Those choices have far reaching affects, even if it is only purchasing a pack of mints. Little decisions add up.

I am so captivated by what he is doing that we are rethinking many ideas and concepts at our company LifeRevelation.

    • You are welcome! Thank you for your kind words. I agree with every word of your ‘rant,’ so no apology is necessary. I would never have had the courage to do in my twenties what I am attempting to do now. It is a brave new world of my own making, and one I only wish I could have forged sooner. But better now than never.

      I had never heard of the homeless museum, or its creator. I just spent a few minutes tooling around the site and am already quite intrigued. I have bookmarked it so I can return in a day or two when I have more time. Thanks for the link.

    • Thanks! It’s a photograph of Solita Solano and Djuna Barnes taken in Paris (1922). It is one of my all-time favourite images of writers.

  73. Hi, this is your mystery book loving friend (don’t know how else to describe myself LOL) Anyhoo, looks like you have a great looking site. I also love old movies, I’ve always felt they have more character and that the black and white films are much more descriptive and “real” than color if that makes any sense.

    I feel the proper use of shadows makes all the difference.Great site I can’t wait to dive deeper into your content.
