There’s something about a poet or writer reading their own works that cannot be beat. They’re not always slicker or smoother than when an outsider reads their work, but they bring a certain knowing and knowledge and emotional context to it that only they can do.
I cannot imagine that there is a writer alive who doesn’t read to themselves during the process! I certainly do. Sometimes it makes all the difference!
Wow. I hardly know what to say. It’s wonderful.

Chills. It is always so much better sometimes to hear the poet read her own words. Thanks, maedez.

They have probably read them to themselves during the process, maedez and know where to put the emphasis. Sometimes it is surprising.
