Anne Brontë Died 164 Years Ago Yesterday and Nary a Peep Was Heard*

Anne Brontë, the forgotten sister, died on 28 May 1849. She was 29. Her novels are quite entertaining, so there is really no excuse for the shadowy, reclusive life of her fame.

*I was too busy yesterday to compose this post. At around 10:00 P.M. I thought of rushing it out, but then decided that publishing it a day late would be all too appropriate.

    • The entire family died young, except the dad. Charlotte lived to be just shy of 39, and she lived the second-longest. I recommend Anne’s books. They are quite good.

    • I know! ‘Twas a peril of living in the mid-19th century. Her sister Emily died at 30, their brother Branwell made it to 31, and Charlotte died just shy of 39. Branwell, Emily, and Anne all died within an 8-month period. The 2 oldest Bronte siblings died at 10 and 11, respectively. Their mother died at 38. Only their dad lived to old age. He died at 84, and outlived them all.
